6 Totally SFW Under Appreciated Artists
If you don’t know, Now you know! These artists will blow you away with their in major talent and phenomenal skills.
Although he has been in the CHH movement for quite some time, Gray has taken quite a turn with his latest School of Roses. Reminiscent of what albums looked like in earlier decades, when they were complete concepts, Gray pushes to educate you of the complexities of love. Woven are delicate themes of adultery and hope, passion and angst. School of Roses wins me over more and more every time I hear it.
It is a timeless album full of songs with soul and precision production quality. The Queen-eque piano and arrangement of ‘After All’ takes me on a journey of 80’s grand piano mastery.
Twenty One Pilots
Panic! At the Disco’s Bendon Urie said “it’s only two of them but it feels like theres a whole band there on stage!” 21 Pilots is raw electricity running through your bones with every second of their performances. Their songwriting is eclectic and unbelievably mature for such a young band. Stemming from folk to elctronic, punk to pop influences there is no telling what is coming next for this band. I am eagerly waiting to see their growth.
Their latest album speaks volumes about their struggles in the industry writing music that pleases their superiors and fans simultaneously while expressing themselves. All is woven through excellent musicianship, hip hop, and hints of spiritual references.
The good ole’ American boy himself. Wholesome music and incredible songwriting that warms your heart with every word and chord, Phillips has caught my attention again and again with his constant delivery of great quality music. It’s really a shocker because he is so new in the industry yet he has managed to be true to himself in spite of the American Idol sham.
My Morning Jacket
Phsycadellic, Rockin, Funky are just some of the words to describe MMJ. They are excellent musicians with taste and incredible musicianship and a vast library of music. With Jim James on vocals and lead guitar the bands vast voyage of sounds is every growing and expanding. MMJ fans will agree when I say they are greatly under appreciated.
Rivers & Robots
Spiritual and timeless. This band is by far the most under appreciated of all the bands on this list. An incredibly glitzy and arpeggiated sound with electric guitars and Raidiohead influences this band is sure to impress you.
A daughter of soul, Kelly constantly cites influences like Inia Arie and newer Gospel artists like Kierra Sheard. Her BET Performance Tribute to Smokey Robinson won her large acclaim as an artist. Kelly is an American Idol alum, unashamed believer and SoCal girl who is rising to success with her amazing songwriting, vocal acrobatics, pop sensibility, and technical savyness.
